I want you to close your eyes and think about a wish you’ve had, as a child, that came true. How did it make you feel? Do you still treasure those memories? For me, I have several special childhood wishes that came true and I will treasure those memories always. I hope you have too and I hope you and your extended family have many more to come!
While I’ve recently shared information about the Fat Quarter Shop Charity Fundraiser Quilt Along and Stitch Along (Cross-stitch), to help raise funds for Make A Wish, today I want to heighten awareness of a few more insights about this effort and encourage you to help. I’m a firm believer the more quilting and sewing enthusiasts that hear about this event, that more wishes can be fulfilled via the Make-A-Wish program. Thus, I want to ask you to be a PR Angel and share any/all of this information with your quilting & sewing friends. Heck, ask your quilt & sewing guilds to join too! Feel free to share a link to this post, or copy/paste and share portions you want. Or share the context of what this QAL & SAL which FQS is hosting is all about!
QuiltShopGal is joining (but doubtful I’ll be able to sew or stitch any of these beautiful QAL/SAL in 2020. But let’s be honest, while there are great quilt and stitching designs, as well as kits, that have been created to help encourage you to participate, donations of any amount are always appreciated and wishes wouldn’t be granted without such help. Plus the Fat Quarter Shop is partnering with Moda Fabrics to match up to $10,000 each in donations for this worthy cause. Think about it, if you donate $5 it creates a $15 donation, your $10 donation creates a $30 donation. United, we can help grant a lot of wishes thru the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Fat Quarter Shop has been hosting an annual QAL and this year, the theme is “Bloomtopia”. What a wonderful theme and there is an amazing QAL BOM design, as well as Stitch Along (SAL).
Blocks for the Bloomtopia QAL will be released every two weeks thru July 15th. The first block was released February lst. There will also be a variety of finishing options, as well as an adorable backing design option. Of course, you don’t have to use these block patterns to make the Bloomtopia quilt. The possibilities of what you can create are endless!
Yes, Bloomtopia Quilt Along is a great opportunity and fun event for quilters of all levels, but Bloomtopia Stitch Along is also perfect for stitching enthusiasts of all levels. And, I’ll confess, QuiltShopGal is a pre-beginner stitcher but I’m going to join the Bloomtopia Stitch Along (and QAL).
The Bloomtopia QAL has already started releasing block patterns. These blocks work really well together in the Bloomtopia quilt, but they’d also be great individually, or with a few of the blocks, for table runners, wall hangings, quilts and more. The possibilities are endless. Certainly worth a $5 donation to download your favorite blocks, but you can also get ALL of the blocks and settings as well as fabric kit and really help grant a special wish!
There is a Bloomtopia Quilt Kit available at FQS, but you could also use fabric from your stash, or fabrics of your choice. The Bloom-Topia Quilt Kit comes with lots of exclusive goodies, including the full set of patterns for the quilt top and finishing will be included, along with an exclusive half-rectangle triangle template and Triangles on a Roll 3″ triangle paper. It all comes packaged in an exclusive keepsake box with magnetic closure.
While there isn’t a kit for the SAL (cross-stitch), they do have a cute Bloomtopia Project Bag to hold all your supplies and I believe many quilting and sewing enthusiasts will want this bag. You also have your choice to buy an Aurifil Floss kit or a DMC thread kit , as well as Pewter 25 count Lugana Cross Stitch Cloth for this SAL.
Like the QAL the SAL has block patterns that will be released every two weeks during the SAL. The first one was released February lst and the last one will be released July 15th.
For those that are participating in the QAL and/or SAL, those that are donating to help raise funds for Make A Wish, as well as those PR Angels that help to share information about this event, the Fat Quarter Shop, Moda, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and many children dreaming of their wish to come true all thank you!
Fat Quarter Shop’s goal is to raise $30k, which will grant 5 children their wishes! QuiltShopGal believes, with your help FQS will exceed their goal.
