Engagement, Wedding, and Anniversary Quilts

For many quilters, we love to make and give a special quilt to honor an engagement  wedding, or a special anniversary.  There really is no wrong design for such a gift from the heart, but for many us of there are some designs that just catch our attention.  While I wanted to share some which have caught my attention, I’m also hoping you’ll share what designs which you recommend for such times of joy and celebration.

Here are some that caught my attention:

Cherry Guidry (Cherry Blossoms Quilting Studio) has a gorgeous design that I think is absolutely perfect to make to celebrate an engagement, or wedding.  Heck, it could be fun for other occassions too, but certainly catches my attention when I think of engagement or wedding quilts.  I’m wanting to make it this year, for a young women who is engaged and still saving money for their wedding (no date set yet).  The design is appropriately called “The Dress Pattern“.

The double wedding ring quilt designs have always been one of my favorites.  It has a variety of forms, from scrappy to sold rings, as well as appliqued embellishments.

Jeweled Wedding Ring Quilt ePattern, by Kay Connors & Karen Earlywine, is available for purchase on the Martingale site, for a very reasonable price.

AccuQuilt has a free downloadable pattern for a cute Wedding Ring table runner.

I love this Double Wedding Ring Quilt that has two gold rings in the center.  It was shared on the Quilting Board, by Scrap Lady which she made for her parents 60th Anniversary.

I also like the use of two wedding rings, for a simple design that works well for honoring any wedding related milestone!

Signature quilts are also a great way to celebrate a Wedding and/or Anniversary.  Here is a cute sign that can be displayed to get guests to sign blocks, or the pieced quilt.   “Please sign our Wedding Quilt” sign by BeauTied Affair (on Etsy)

{below} Eileen shared on Pinterest a beautiful “guestbook quilt” where wedding guests signed 6″x6″ white squares that were assembled later for a special quilt given to the newlyweds.

Buzzfeed shared an inspirational idea for wedding guests to sign a quilt where the flimsy quilt top was hung asking guests to sign, then it was finished after the event and given to the couple to always remember their special day.

This Have A Heart, quilt pattern, by J. Michael Watts, would be perfect for any special occassion.  This design finishes at 74″ x 90″ and is a jelly roll friendly project.

Did you know Fons & Porter has a free downloadable ebook, with 4 patterns for wedding quilts?

Don’t forget, I’d love to hear your favorite designs for Engagement, Wedding and/or Anniversary comments.  Or do you have such a quilt that maybe someone made for you?   Feel free to leave a comment and/or post a photo on my Facebook page:  www.facebook.com/quiltshopgal
