Today, I’m looking ahead with plans for creativity and hoping to inspire you to do the same. Maybe you already have plenty of handmade items for St. Patrick’s Day and/or March. Or maybe you’d like to make something new for yourself and/or a gift. Here are a few projects that have caught my attention:
March is a fun month with Spring color and a perfect time of year to create. Did you realize in 2018, both St. Patricks Day and the International Quilting Day are on March 17th? As I’m looking forward to March, I wanted to share ten creative project opportunities that I thought are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and/or March in general:
Patrick Lose has such fun and whimsical designs. I think his March Block (Blocks for All Seasons) is filled with #CreativeGodness.
Nancy Halverston’s book, “Count On It” has a lovely mini-quilt design for March, that is certainly perfect for more than just St. Patrick’s Day. I love the what Madison Zane Creations shared on her blog:
Check out the sweet Shamrock Table Topper on Craftsy, by Connie Kresin
For those that enjoy machine embroidery, Urban Threads has a beautiful Passport to Ireland – Shamrock design which offers endless possibilities. Don’t have an embroidery machine? Check out my post on my Facebook page to find contacts for those that offer machine embroidery services for you, for a very reasonable price.
They also have an interesting “Mendhika Shamrock“.
Angie Padilla has a lovely Irish Love Mug Rug design that would also make wonderful gifts, as well as for you to use in your home and/or at work.
Of course Irish Chain quilts are perfect this time of year, as well as any time. While there are a lot of designs, Quilt In A Day has super easy to follow instructions and great visuals in their timeless book “Irish Chain In A Day“.
Luck of the Irish Flag Wall Quilt by Sewing Machines Plus is a free downloadable design that caught my attention.
Mari Martin designed a charming March Candle Mat pattern for Connecting Threads, which you can download for free.
We All Sew (Bernina’s Blog) has a lovely Shamrock table runner tutorial that is perfect for scrap busting your stash.
Kunin Group shared a sweet tutorial to make Shamrock Candle Mats which for those with electronic cutters (e.g. Silhouette Cameo) can be automatically cut out, but those that don’t have such tools, you can also use their free downloadable PDFs to manually cut out the shapes.
They also shared inspiration for group these sweet Candle Mats to create a table runner arrangement.
I hope you find inspiration in one or more of the designs that I’ve showcased today and decide to create something new for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. If you do, I’d love to see a picture. Of course, I’d also love to see photos of any handmade decorations you have made to decorate your home for March and/or St. Patrick’s Day. You can always contact me via email, but also want you to feel free to post pictures on my facebook page at: www.facebook.com/quiltshopgal
