Road to California Quilt Conference and Show 2016 – Part 1 – Award Winning Quilts

12371054_10153351486268391_1582267970219763751_oCongratulations to the Road to California Quilt Conference and Show team, as well as to all the talented quilters that had their quilt or other project (e.g. doll, clothing, purse, etc) juried into this highly competitive and amazing show.

The 2016 show had well over 1000 quilts on display, 220 retailers (from 37 states, and 7 foreign countries) and over 35,000 attendees.  There were also the best of the best teachers, with 7 days of classes.

From my perspective, while there are other quilt shows that may have more quilts, or more vendors, the combination of everything one wants from a quilt show (e.g. a variety of quilts, vendors, teachers), Road surpasses other shows in the amount of #CreativeGoodness, fun and overall value that it provides attendees.  If you have not yet attended Road, I hope you will be able to do so soon.  This is absolutely an amazing show.

While I’ll be sharing more insights about the 2016 show shortly, today I want to recognize highlights of some of the award winning quilts that caught my attention.  To clarify, all of the quilts on exhibit are winners as this is a highly competitive show to get an entry accepted.  And, with respect to those that do receive a ribbon, my camera does not do the quilts justice, forcing me to not show some winning quilts I’d like to share, not to mention that there there were over 80 quilts that received awards (and prize money).

Note: While personally I’m thrilled with this award wining quilt, I was disappointed to not see this quilt give recognition to Sarah Vedeler, who created this”Sedona Star” design, as well as lack of recognition for this quilt incorporating the technique of “Machine Embroidery”.

I hope you have enjoyed these amazing award winning quilts, as much as I have.  They incorporate a variety of techniques and push the envelope of #CreativeGoodness.  As mentioned earlier, I’ll soon be sharing insights on other quilts, Vendors, special exhibits and more, from the 2016 Road to California Quilt Show. And, I even have a special sponsored giveaway that I’ll be sharing soon.
